The Floods

This weekend was a most interesting one.The copius amounts of rain have lead to large quantities in the city and county.I myself, being situated in the countryside, was largely unaffected, save a few detours here and there.

The major event of my weekend came on saturday night where i went to a friends 21st party. This was a good laugh and i returned home early enough at about 1.

The following sunday i spent playing guitar(yet again) and browsing the internet.I also printed out the maps required for our teams theatre murder mystery game.

The past few days.

my past few days have been quite interesting. On thursday the class party was held in a pub on colbert street(I think). That in itself is an entire blog entry which i will not divulge much into, but alas needless to say it was fun.

Having restrung my guitar I went to a friends house. We didnt really get up to much, just messed around on our guitars and came up with a little song, nothing amazing but it was quite mellow :)

When i got home on sunday i began listening to a few new bands. Most noticably of these included Kyuss and Soundgarden.I must say I was slightly wary of Kyuss at first but they are growing on me.

What to say

Today id like to share a little more about the music I like.Below I have linked one of my alll time favourite songs. The song I speak of is "Ramble On" by Led Zeppelin.

Ramble On!

Airbourne

I really need to get tickets to go see these guys. They are playing in Dublin in febuary. One could describe them as a hard rock band. They are from Australia and they can be seen to be similar to AC/DC in many ways and emulate their sound.
They have over the past 2-3 years gained much regognition and are slowly becoming more well known. Here is a link to one of their more well known songs,"Too much,Too young,Too fast."

The weekend

Hey all,Daniel here again for another update. This weekend wasnt too bad if I speak truthfully. On friday I went to my old secondary school for an awards night. After the ceremony me and a few friends walked around the school and visited the places we used to hang out for one last time.Am I too old for nostalgia?

Anyways afterwords we went to the local pub with most of the otherclass and chatted and such for a while. My saturday was of little excitement.I spent most of the time playing guitar and chatting with friends. This weekend I ended up listening to copius amounts of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.I find their blend of rock and funk rythms(spelling?) to be most enjoyable.Speaking of them, their guitarist,John Frusciante, is one hell of a guitarist!

Evidence here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNPaR5xiwZc&feature=related (its not the most melodic piece, but he sure can play!)

So it stands to reason that ive been trying to learn their song Dani California, relativly unsuccesfull as of this moment, but in time im sure :)

Halloween weekend

This week it was halloween.I found it to be enjoyable weekend, compared to my last couple of uneventfull weekends.
On saturday night me and a couple of friends went into town to a kind of costume party in a nightclub of sorts. There where a large variety of intersting costumes,my favourite amongst being some one who had managed to create a very convincing pacman costume.
Being relativly unprepared and only deciding to go out at the last minute the best that i could muster was a short of "Leprechaun" costume(pictured above). The night itself was relativly interesting, which was a surprise to me as i usualy do not enjoy nightclubs. After the forays in the nightclub we decided to head to a friends house where we stayed the night. We spent much of the next day playing Tekken 6 and Resident Evil 5.At aprrox. 7 o clock I headed home.Afew hours passed and then a friend of mine advised that i should look up a few Smashing Pumpkins songs.Albeit I admit a little sceptical at first listen to their alternative rock sound I have found that they are slowly begining to grow on me.(Here is a link to their song "Today" off the Siamese Dreams album.)

Another notable point of interest that occured at the weekend was the film ZombieLand. This particular film is a horror/comedy about 4 people survivng in a now post apocalyptic wasteland infested with the living dead.(here is a link to a review of the film)

I found it to be humourous in places, and overall not a bad film.
These where the events which perpitrated my Halloween weekend.
Until next time this has been Daniel Flynn.
